How long should my lights be on?
Light duration will vary depending upon the season. A good starting point is 12 hours on during the spring and fall, 14 hours on during the summer, and 10 hours on during the winter. It is best practice to have your daylight (LED), UV (T5 HO), and heat lights (halogen) on three separately timed channels. Peak UV and heat only occur for a portion of the day, typically around midday. Try to replicate your animal’s natural climatic conditions as much as possible. Please see our care guides in the Leap Library for species-specific recommendations.
